Sometimes all it takes is one simple color. Every color has a variety of emotions that go with it. Black is, of course, melancholy and somber. Pink is girlish and youthful. Blue is by turns boyish and brash and “bluesy.” And then, of course, there is red. The color of passion. And it’s this spectral connotation that Voronin has used to craft one of his visually most pleasing photo series, Fuego.Fuego means “fire” in Spanish, and there is definitely a “fire” to this series what with all the heat generated by the models and their flaming surroundings. Voronin has not been shy in layering it on thick with his vision. He wanted red, and red he got.
From everything from the models’ hair (above and below) to their wardrobes to the tapestries and upholsteries that grace the room.There is red everywhere in this series. Let’s start with the models. Both models have red hair, though one has reddish brunette hair and the other has what they call “strawberry blonde.” Both have red lipstick. Both are also donning “reddish” tufts down between their thighs, with a tantalizing “V” shave on the strawberry blonde model. Finally, both girls seem to be “on fire” with passion for each other and the act of posing nude.
Moving to the surroundings, we see a host of red. The quilt over the soft on which most of the action takes place is filled with red symbols and caricatures. Horses, fish, plants, and various other “mythical” looking images grace the cloth. This adds an equally “rustic” and “archetypal” feel to the composition of this series and makes the ladies in question almost seem as if they are part of the Pharaoh’s harem...
